I never very much liked the idea of the one console future. While having one console that can play any and all types of games has its appeal, I believe it does a disservice to the core of game culture. Let’s be honest …. we love this crap. Relishing in the battles fought year after year over who is better, PC gamers showing they have more power than anybody, the big three bringing their best to the table and trying to outdo one another. Forget about console allegiance for a moment and think about why we go over every detail, argue over exclusive games and debate system specs and features. It’s because that is what the heart of game culture is about, competition.
Ok seriously, I need to know who is using PlayStation now? Sony just added 105 games to its streaming service and that means there has got to be some type of big demand for it. I’m begging any small amount of people who read my post to comment on this.
I get the idea of PS Now and it’s pretty solid. Except for the part where the subscription and rentals are overpriced. America doesn’t even crack the top 10 when it comes to fastest internet service, so I can’t imagine it working very well an unless you have your console connected directly to your modem there are bound to be fustrations.
If PS Now came in at a cheaper price, then I’d be more than happy to buy in and rent from a hug catalog of PS3 games. I mean I’m all for renting games on my console. It’s something I’ve wanted for the longest. However, I’ve always thought of it more as you download the game and have like a week to play it before it locks you out. That way there is no connection problems. Maybe I should take a weekend and try it to see if it’s really worth the price of admission.
It’s ok Capcom. If you don’t want to give us a new Mega Man game, that’s cool. In meantime we have Mighty No.9. The spiritual successor’s new trailer shows off the Mega Man style action in all it’s glory. Mega Man’s creator Keiji Inafune and the team at Comcept really outdid themselves with this one. Now if only they could make their own Mega Man Legends style game…
The game is coming September 14th to just about ever console imaginable.
Looks like I’m going to have to finish up Persona 4: Golden now because this has elevated my interest in the series. I am by no means a big time Persona fan but damn this trailer looks sick. This is the first real hint of what the game is about and I’m liking the whole tone of Persona 5 with it’s thief like protagonist and characters that all seem to have dual identities. Not much is known about the main character, but he is a winner in my book already. That allure of mystery is really working for him.
Konami showed off new gameplay for Metal Gear Online. Wow does it look great. It has a somewhat quirky charm and the mix of stealth and action looks fun as hell. Also, who doesn’t appreciate some good vocal work from Kiefer Sutherland.
Metal Gear Online comes with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain sometime in 2015.
Sierra’s classic adventure game King’s Quest is getting a revival. After creators Roberta and Ken Williams received the much deserved Industry Icon Award the new game was revealed. It looks quite fantastic, here’s to hoping it lives up to its predecessor.
King’s Quest arrives Fall 2015.
