No Man’s Sky Gameplay Trailer

Many find it surprising when they hear that No Man’s Sky is an indie title and for good reason. During the Playstation Experience a demo of the gameplay showed off just how ambitious this game really is. A game that makes it seem like the possibilities are endless is definitely pushing the boundaries of what is considered an indie type of game.

I have never been more disturbed by a game I can’t wait for.  The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is coming  November 4th to PC, PS4, and PlayStation Vita. For those that don’t know, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a 16-bit remake of the original. The game has old school zelda like game play, two-player co-op, 20 challenge runs, 160 new unlockables and more bosses than before. Just .. just watch the trailer for yourself.

If you didn’t not get a chance to go to the NYU Event a few weeks ago by Developer Shawn Allen, then you’re in Luck! Video of the event has gone online and people should really give it a look. Allen discusses a majority of problems for minorities within the indie game industry. Mainly the misrepresentation of minorities and the lack of them as well. As both African American and Puerto Rican, one of the problems I have had with playing video games is I don’t see my culture and basically I don’t see myself. For a culture that I love so much, for me, it is something that sticks out like a sore thumb. It is an issue that Allen touches on fairly well,  so I encourage everyone to watch.

Look for Shawn Allen’s recently Kickstarted game Treachery in Beatdown City soon.

Interested in playing some games? Meeting some awesome local game developers? Live in New York City?

Well here is your chance! NYU is hosting one of its Playtest nights next Tuesday and you have the chance to participate. While tickets cost $9.43, this might be worth it to meet and network with some great New York game developers.

You can buy tickets here. Details below:

NYC Games Forum April Playtest Night
ATTENDEES – please arrive on time! The check-in workers will leave after an hour, and you might not be able to get in late.
Two months ago, over 30 independent developers showed off their creations to almost 200 attendees. It was a huge success, and everyone asked for more.
On April 22 we’re doing it again. Developers will have a chance to show off their newest games one-on-one to the NYC Games Forum crowd. We’re taking over Microsoft to offer more developers the opportunity to get in front of players, pitch their games and get feedback. Each game will have its own section of a booth and players will get to try out whatever strikes their fancy.
Don’t have a game, but want to show up to try out the games and have fun? RSVP as an attendee above — it’ll be an awesome night.
