Irrational Games to Reveal Bioshock Infinite DLC Late July

bioshock_infinite_2

According to Joystiq, they have received word directly from Irrational Games that new Bioshock Infinite DLC will be revealed at the end of July. More than likely this will be a part of the three DLC packs promised within the game’s Season Pass. It will be interesting to see what kind of DLC Irrational comes up with for Bioshock Infinite, especially if it is story driven.

No word on the release date for this DLC, but it will probably be announced along with the reveal.

BioShock Infinite DLC Status

Ken Levine, creator of the Bioshock series and co-founder of Irrational Games has taken to twitter to give an update on the long awaited Bioshock Infinite DLC. He posted:

DLC Update: We are working on it- have been since the game shipped. Things are going well, but plz understand: game development takes time.

It has been three months since the games has released. In a world where gamers are so use to DLC and also getting it as soon as possible, it is understandable that most people are impatient. Personally, I have no problem with the wait, but others might. Especially those that bought the Season Pass, which promises all three planned DLC packs. The biggest problem here is the Season Pass because people are paying for content that is not yet finished, with no definite release date. Even with the reduced price, there is never any guarantee of the content being finished on time or at all.

Despite the issues, the rumors are that the new DLC may feature a new location and new companion that is not Elizabeth.

Sony Shows Off Indie Games On Vita

psvita-580-75

Yesterday, Sony announced that the Playstation Store on the PS Vita would be getting a brand new Indie Games section like the PS3. To celebrate, a new trailer has been released showing off all the great indie games on and coming to the Vita.

I have had a PS Vita since day one and always felt that the system was a great place downloadable and indie games. With more than year within the Vita’s life cycle, it great to see the catalog of indie games Sony has built already. More trailers like this are necessary to show how special the Vita is and perhaps if they threw these into a couple of television commercials they might see more sales.

OUYA Arrives Today

ouya_console

The little Android console that could is available to purchase today for the small, small price of $99. Last year developer, OUYA Inc., ran a kickstarter that raised an astounding $8.5 million to bring the console to life. The basic idea behind the OUYA is a cheap console that runs on the Android operating system and is easily accessible, allowing owners to freely develop games, hack or mod the console.

The console’s public debut has not been without its share of problems. Many of the backers (people who donated money to the kickstarter), who were promised an OUYA shipped to them on launch day, have not received their console. Despite the hiccups, the OUYA is still a very interesting addition to the gaming industry. It is essentially an indie gamers and developers dream. Without the barriers of having to deal with big name companies, the tiny 3×3 console could be the place to go for many great and overlooked games. I will be watching very closely to see how much of any impact the system will have and just might pick one up in the near future.

Some Characters May Not Return For New Smash Bros. Game

illust-modal

Fighting games may very well be some of the hardest games to make. One of most focused on aspects of the genre happen to be balance; making sure every character is on equally footing with one another. This seems to be an issue with the new Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS.

In an interview with NowGamer, Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Smash Bros., says that some characters from the previous Smash Bros. games won’t be returning. He states:

We don’t have the time to fully recreate every single character who’s been in Smash Bros at this point.

When explaining his reasoning for not bringing back some of the cast, it seems to be a matter of timing. He goes on to say:

Adding new characters is not a simple addition – it’s really multiplication. The amount of work, adding a character is multiplied and becomes bigger and bigger as you go. We can’t because of the amount of work it takes. However, I do believe I understand that each character has its own set of fans out there who really like that character.

So we’re not going to cut characters out of the way, we’re going to put in as many characters as we can, we really want to do that, because it’s good for the fans and good for all of us. But in the event that we do have to cut some characters, I’d like to apologise in advance to those fans.

Sad to hear. However, it is a matter of what you prefer. Would you want rather the game delayed, in order to fit more characters in? or Would it be better to have the game come out on time, but with a smaller roster? It does not mean much to me, seeing as Kirby is already confirmed for the game, but would some of you be upset if you favorite character were cut?

It is about time that Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold membership started catching up with Playstation Plus. What better way to start then with their announcement at E3 that an Xbox Live Gold membership will entitle members to free games every month. Two free games will offered on the 1st and 16th of every month.

The “Games for Gold” has already started with Fable III as the programs first free game. According to Official Xbox Magazine, July’s two free games will be Assassin’s Creed and Halo 3.

Deadpool Gameplay Video is Part Awesome, Part Hilarious

I am just going to say that at one point in this gameplay video Deadpool pulls a bouncy house out of thin air for no other reason than jumping on it.

The gameplay for the new Deadpool game looks like you basic hack and slash fun, but it is Deadpool 4th wall breaking comedy that really makes the game stand out. Between Deadpool’s inner monologue with multiple personalities and mocking classic video game tropes that we have come to accept, this game might just be worth it just to hear Deadpool speak. Also, “Laws of physics be damned”.

Deadpool arrives tomorrow, June 25, for PS3 and Xbox.

Update: Launch Trailer

Tiny Tina is Your Game Master …. BEWARE!

tina 6-620x

Borderlands 2 was one of my favorite games of 2012. While I missed out on all of the Borderlands 2 DLC that has come out since the games release, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep might bring me back in. The ridiculousness of this campaign is just too good to pass up.

Apparently, Brick, Lilith and Mordecai are playing a board game with Tina as the Game Master. As you play, it seems that Tina can change anything see wants as the game goes along. New enemies, hilarious story, a bazillion weapon and Tiny Tina, what more could you want.

Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep arrives June 25 for $10 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
