Renegade’s Radar: I, Zombie

I, Zombie Logo Switch

The popular Steam game, I, Zombie, is making its way to the Nintendo Switch on March 8 for $4.99, according to developer Awesome Games.

Sometimes, all it takes is a bit a role reversal to make a fairly common premise feel new again, and that’s exactly what I, Zombie does. Players take on the role of lone zombie trying to survive, and judging from the trailer, eat brains and turn everyone else into the undead.

What makes I, Zombie interesting is that it is all strategy and tactics, which is pretty ironic for a game where you play as something that’s supposed to be brain dead. Each level has you sneaking around, memorizing enemy patterns, and turning enemies into zombies for you to command. The game even has a level editor for you to create your own stages and challenges.

While simple, it looks like a ton of fun, especially for a grab n’ go console like the Nintendo Switch. I, Zombie debuted on Steam back in 2014 to generally positive reviews with some players praising it for it’s strategic gameplay. Other reviewers note the game’s short nature but still recommend it for the price of admission.

Developer Awesome Games is also responsible for games like Badass Hero and Yet Another Zombie Defense.

Press Release:

Awesome Games Studio is proud to announce I, ZOMBIE – a rather different zombie game – is coming to Nintendo Switch. It will arrive in its final form on March 8th, priced at $4.99/€4.99/£4.49/pуб.349/$4.99/5.99 CAD/89.99 MXN. The game also includes a level editor, which will allow everyone to test their strategic and tactical skills to the max! It’s all about being sneaky, smart (for a zombie, of course), and biting your way through to lead your horde to victory. All set in colorful, cartoon visuals and a comical atmosphere.

Once you were a human, like everyone else, but that doesn’t matter anymore. Your sole purpose is simple – eat as many brains as possible and turn everyone into your kind. Become a leader of your horde and infect all the humans on the map. Whenever you turn another poor human being into a brainless, green-skinned creature, you gain full control over their existence. You can command your horde to attack armed soldiers, infect helpless civilians, follow you, or await orders. Each scenario requires a different tactical approach and careful planning to achieve world domination.

And if you think you’re done after spreading your plague on all levels, think again – I, ZOMBIE’s built-in level editor lets you build your own maps and challenge your skills just the way you like.

I, ZOMBIE MAIN FEATURES

  • Be a zombie, eat brains!
  • Control your minions by simple commands – you might be dead, but who said the dead can’t come up with great strategies?
  • Simple, arcade and puzzle-like rules – be smart, be sneaky, unleash the zombiepocalypse!
  • A comic setting – zombies are cute and funny too!
  • In-game level editor – endless fun, and even more brains!
