4. Xbox Tries To Win Back Indies
It is a shame the position Xbox is in when it comes to indies. Xbox Live Arcade was once the catalyst for indie games, giving the spotlight to games like Geometry Wars and Super Meat Boy. However, over the years indie developers have spoken up about the trouble they have had trying to bring games to the Xbox 360. With expensive patch prices, unfair policies and lack of promotion, indie developers have been flocking to other systems one by one.
Microsoft might seek to bring indies back in a big way at this year’s E3. They have already implemented the id@xbox program that lifts fees for patches and development tools. I expect a big line up of indies games coming to the Xbox One. Also, to sway more indie developers to their side, they may finally lift the policy that prevents games that have released on competing systems (PS3, Wii U) from coming to Xbox systems.
